Connect with Australia - Showcasing Australian agribusiness to China

19-Sep-2014 15:15:00

As this goes online, twenty specialists from the Landmark Harcourts and Harcourts Australia are in China to showcase Australian agribusiness and urban developments through our Connect with Australia event.

“Working in collaboration with our Harcourts network in China, and in association with Austcham in Shanghai and Beijing, our intent is to provide guests with an informative and educational look at investing in Australia,” said Jason Hellyer, Landmark Harcourts Franchise Manager and Director, China Business Development.

The 10-day event will promote Australia to the biggest market in the world and build on the experience of Landmark Harcourts 2013 China showcase.

“This year we’re returning to China to showcase more than 54 agribusiness and urban development listings valued at more than AUD$350 million to Chinese investors,” Jason explained.

“Our Australian entourage includes business owners, property agents and developers. Our partners, Harcourts, will be alongside us, promoting their Australian properties in the residential, development and commercial sectors.”

“We have fostered some great relationships in China and will be proud to honour our growing network with some truly inspiring and informative guest speakers at these special events.”

Two invitation-only events in Beijing on 23 September and Shanghai on 25 September have been organised just for VIP buyers. Attendees have been sourced through Landmark Harcourts’ Australian and Chinese real estate networks, Austcham Beijing and Shanghai, associated seminar sponsors and participants.

Jason said: “We’ll be showcasing a selection of premium Australian properties, aiming to either facilitate purchase of large-scale, ripe-for-expansion agricultural operations and residential or commercial developments in Australia, or to help build fruitful partnerships.”

“Experience tells us that the Chinese investor community are attracted to joint venture partnerships in Australia.”

Connect with Australia will help potential investors better understand the advantages of investing in Australian agribusiness including opening the doors to high value consistent supply, counter seasonal premium prices, direct supply chain and product traceability.

The Australian dairy industry will be promoted as a big industry with the capacity and the initiative to get much bigger, and a location close to Asia, making it an ideal trading partner.

Seminar topics for the two key events include:

  • Australian Wine and Viticulture
  • Australian Meat and Dairy
  • Australian Urban Development Projects

“Our guest speaker in relation to the viticulture industry is Andrew Buttery of Gemtree Wines,” said Jason. “Andrew will share Gemtree’s inspiring joint venture success story, while sampling wine provided by Gemtree Wines.”

“He will take us through Gemtree’s three-year journey that finally culminated in the successful partnership between their McLaren Vale Vineyard and Mr Yuang Song, a Chinese investor from Chengdu.”

At the same time, two Victorian vineyards will be showcased as potential property and investment opportunities.

The Australian Protein (beef, sheep, dairy, poultry and fish) sector will be represented by speakers from:

  • AGSCOPE (Col Medway)
  • Ag Technology & Science Transfer (Michael Boddington)
  • Meat & Livestock Australia
  • TIQ (Trade and Investment Queensland)

These guest speakers will participate in a question and answer panel, aimed at responding to Chinese investors’ queries about the opportunities and available support in Australia. This section will include a showcase of six relevant Australian properties and developments.

The Australian Commercial and Urban Development segment will be represented by Tenant Ready Group (Jason Berhrndt), Woods Bagot Architects and ANZ, again in a question and answer panel format. Property showcased here includes a retirement village development, townhouse development and commercial lease opportunities.

“We have already learnt a great deal about the Chinese investment community and what they are looking for in terms of investment opportunities,” said Jason.

“We’ll gain an even greater understanding this time around and will be establishing new contacts and strengthening existing relationships.”

“Our future vision is that Chinese investors will look to Landmark Harcourts when they are considering investing in Australian agribusiness.”
