ManUp! announces placement of specialist prostate cancer nurse in Toowoomba

Recently Landmark Harcourts had the privilege of attending the 6th Annual ManUp! for Prostate Cancer Gala Dinner held in Brisbane. With the theme “BraveUp”, attendants were encouraged to wear a kilt or blue to raise awareness and funding for prostate cancer in regional areas.

The event was held on the back of a recentannouncement revealing that a specialist prostate cancer nurse will be based in the Toowoomba region from May 9. A joint initiative by the It’s A Bloke Thing Foundation and ManUp! with funding assistance from Hand Heart Pocket, the nursing appointment means that prostate cancer patients will no longer need to travel to Brisbane for specialist care and treatment.

One of our finest Queensland Sales Consultants, Mark Abra from Landmark Harcourts Toowoomba, attended to support ManUp!

Landmark Harcourts Toowoomba's Mark Abra and partner Amanda attend the BraveUp Gala Dinner“We’re fortunate enough in Toowoomba to have ManUp! visit each year and educate our local community about prostate cancer detection and treatment. With the placement of a specialist nurse the impact will be far greater and much needed ongoing support for patients will be achieved. A great win for Toowoomba,” comments Mark.

ManUp! for Prostate Cancer, which has been operating since 2010, was founded with the aim of educating Australian men about the importance of prostate testing and supporting those living with prostate cancer. It is Landmark Harcourts’ major Foundation initiative and has been since 2014.

In previous years, ManUp! has toured regional parts of Australia, educating local communities about prostate cancer at a grassroots level. The ManUp! “On the Road” tour will be visiting towns and communities in Queensland again this year commencing early July – including some of our Landmark Harcourts offices.

For those in regional Queensland who would like to learn more about the detection and treatment of this disease, we encourage you to get in touch with ManUp! to register your interest in an information session for your community or workplace.
